In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.
The term unfailing love is used many times in the Bible. It is used in reference to God’s love. This is really what separates God’s love from the love that we experience as human beings.
God’s love is unconditional and will not falter in the worst of times. This is something that we don’t experience from other people. As people, there are limits to our love. Many are only willing to love as long as we are loved back. Some are willing to love in the midst of difficulty but even this reaches an end. We are taught to love our enemies but we are not fully capable of loving someone who heaps abuse and scorn upon us day after day. At some point our love will run out.
This isn’t the case with God. His love will not reach an end. There is no point that a person can reach that God will not forgive them if they ask for forgiveness.
We should be careful not to mistake God’s unfailing love and think that God is a pushover however. We cannot continue to mock and scorn God just because we will not reach the end of His love. While God’s love is unfailing, it is only there for the repentant. Those who do not accept God’s love should not expect God to welcome them with open arms. Instead they only have a day of judgment waiting for them.
God’s love is given to all in forgiveness. Those who do not accept forgiveness reject that love. God’s love does not fail us but we can choose to not accept it and thus we fail God’s love.
