He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
We should never underestimate the power of faith. It is said that faith can move mountains. While this is often expressed as a figure of speech, Jesus said it to His disciples with the explanation that nothing would be impossible for them. Because Jesus doesn’t lie, we should believe that moving mountains was something they could have done with faith.
There is a precaution that we should take with faith. While we can do anything with it, it is expressed toward God and therefore the power of faith is only applicable to doing the will of God. While we have the power to move mountains it is not likely God’s will to use us to do so.
Some people today claim the power of God in the use of miracles and healing. While God has every right to grant such power today, there is a question of whether there is a need for it.
The early church used miracles as it was getting established to authenticate that it had the approval of God. Christianity no longer needs this as the greatest miracle of all is seen in the lives that have been changed by the gospel.
So, God can give us the power to do anything through faith. We must recognize that whatever is done must be in accordance with the will of God as well.
