Hear, O earth:
I am bringing disaster on this people,
the fruit of their schemes,
because they have not listened to my words
and have rejected my law.
While God has promised to reward the righteous as we find in Isaiah 3:10, the schemes of the wicked do not escape the Lord’s notice either.
It seems as if evil prospers and nice guys finish last but that is not the case. Any prospering that evil people may appear to achieve is not because God has ignored what is taking place, and it certainly doesn’t mean that prospering is an indication that God has blessed the wickedness.
When punishment comes, and it may not be until the Final Judgment, it is not a punishment of retaliation. Instead it is simply a person reaping what they have sown. God doesn’t take any delight in punishing wickedness but His holiness demands it. Wicked people will get what they deserve because those are the seeds that they have planted. They will harvest wickedness when the time comes.
The fruit of wicked schemes is the disaster that comes from God. Some people plant seeds of wickedness and cultivate them throughout their life. They should not be surprised when they discover that seeds of wickedness grow into something that they don’t desire. They will be left with a harvest of wrath and justice because it is the fruit of their wicked labor.
