On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
Fruit isn’t just for here on earth. We will enjoy fruit in heaven as well. It’s not thought of much but there were two trees in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They were banned from the garden because of this.
God didn’t want them to eat from the tree of life and live eternally in their sinful state. We will taste of the fruit of the tree of life in heaven where sin and death have been eradicated.
The fruit of the tree of life is plentiful as well. Unlike most plants, it bears its fruit year-round, month after month. It is abundant to meet our needs in heaven.
Because we want others to participate in this harvest, we are faithful to God in being fruitful. We work to harvest the fields that are ripe. We plant the seeds of the gospel in others and nurture it until it bears fruit. And we eagerly look forward to the day when we will share the fruit of the tree of life with all Christians.
